How to express "preferences" ?


  - comment exprimer la préférence ?

Prefer ? ... Rather ? ...

de même sens mais avec une petite différence dans la forme du verbe

- I prefer ... : je préfère. ->  I prefer the city to the countryside

- I prefer + vb infinitif avec TO -> I prefer to travel by plane to travel by train

- I prefer nom ... + nom ->   I prefer the plane to the train

- I'd would prefer ... + infinitif avec TO :   I'd would prefer to travel by train than by car

- I'd prefer ... + nom  -> I'd prefer the train to the car

= je préférerais voyager par le train qu'en voiture.

- I'd rather ... + infinitif sans to ->   I'd rather travel by train than by car

                                                  -> I'd rather live at the seaside than in the countryside
